welcome to fashion show
fashion show is a sustainable fashion company. iām using what i have to make a place to share my love of fashion and do some good (a dream that's been, in theory, 26 years in the making but more realistically i've been working on launching this since 2023)
fashion show is also a way to keep my other creative work alive ā acting, songwriting, etc. because while my work as a substitute teacher is truly as close as i've ever came to having a dream job, i ultimately have big plans and have always wanted to build something of my own and leave the real teachers to the classrooms (shout-out my dad who just started his 35th year of teaching)...but anyway I mean what is this, a job interview?
on this website, you'll find two things (for now):
1.) thrifting
real thrifting. sourced from dollar racks, free piles, things you passed on when you saw the broken strap and missing button. i bring them home, wash them, fix them, and give them another life.
2.) g
my handmade and 100% upcycled clothing line! it came from years of craft projects with my aunt bonnie at the lake, learning to sew doll clothes so i could enter them in the local county fair. and several seasons of project runway (specifically the unconventional materials challenges). this brand is built upon my tried and true strategy: trial and error. works for everything! enjoy what has come from many late-night experiments and just figuring things out as i went. the first line is currently live under the "g" tab. I have lots of pieces ready to go and coming soon, but decided to wait on releasing those and instead make my first line be one that represents what fashion is all about: a protest. fashion has historically been used to make a statement and I have a very strong statement i'd like to make regarding the current ICE raids in the city that I moved to back in 2022. los Angeles has changed my life. I love the history, the landmarks, and most importantly the people. I started to feel very powerless to what was going on in the neighborhood around me and so I made a shirt that said fuck ice one night before going out and it felt like, while nothing life-changing, it made a small difference. and that's really what we need to keep doing, bare minimum, are the little things. so 100% of profits from this line will go to CHIRLA, an organization supporting immigrant families in LA affected by ICE raids. living here has changed my life ā money can do a lot, and this is one way to put it to work.
everything about me comes from someone else. we are a collection of who we have met and where we have gone. same with fashion show-everythign comes reused from somewhere ā thrift stores, leftover materials, my own stash of sewing and art supplies, even the stickers on the packages I used old supplies and a printer at my local library instead of ordering stickers. its' the little things I hope to do to make a difference for me and you .
fashion show = affordable thrifting + an upcycled clothing line + whatever comes next. click around girl. lmk if you need anything and hi love you
